hello ALL...I great you ALL in the name of AVIATION...what a great wonder...how could the world be like without this beauty?? its simply unimaginable...
straight to the point...I love to equip myself with a bit of knowledge still as i always do...
to ALL AVIATORS, aviation ETHUSIASTS and EXPERTS or rather CONSULTANTS...can any ONE or ALL of you please breakdown for me the issue of how LOW-COST carriers have IMPACTED upon the management of AIRPORTS...In particular be able to
•Illustrate the low-cost model but ONLY in relation to its impact on airport management and operations.
•Analyse the range, importance and effectiveness of management practices that airports have adopted to deal with the low-cost model.
•Analyse the impact of such practices on the airports themselves and on airport users.

BIG CHALLENGE....hmmmm??? let's GO...

This seems like the kind of thing I love to rant on about on this forum, but the array of questions leaves SOOO much to be written that I'm not sure I can motivate myself LOL. Perhaps later.....

I've also just seen that you're doing an MSc in Aviation, hence the question, which ironically struck me as being very academic, and I suspected it may be related to an essay that needs doing...so should we copyright anything we give you? Or are you up for plagarism?? ;)

This is a great topic, and really open to some healthy and informed discussion.

Their impact seems to me to be restoration. Often these low cost carriers fly into under utilized airports, which places them in a strong bargaining position when it comes to negotiating with local authorities.

Having said that, it must be a bit like opening up Pandora's box. Authorities want the (lucrative) business, however, many of these carriers are becoming very powerful when it comes to negotiating with these authorities.

The former head of YYZ (and SFO before that), Luis Turpin, said in a Toronto magazine (paraphrasing) that airports hold all the authority now, that airlines are becoming like bus lines, essentially they are tennants at the airports.

This may be true of the legacy carriers, however, I think we have a brand new breed with the low frills. They're not afraid to pull their service (and often do).

slightly deviating from the subject....but as we all know at LHR, Terminal 5 will be only for British Airways and possibly its ONEWORLD™ partners.

Who is paying for the project?
is it a 50/50 or BAA paying 100% of the costs?
