bmi regional to add Aberdeen-Amsterdam flights - three times daily from the Granite City to Holland's capital from 2006

Aberdeen-based bmi regional, the UK's most punctual regional airline, today announced a new three times daily service linking Aberdeen with Amsterdam.

Services commence on 27 March 2006 and will be operated by aircraft from the all-Embraer jet fleet. Convenient timings of the bmi flights provide excellent links for the business traveller, allowing for a full working day in Holland's capital without the early start required by the current schedule operator.

A choice of business or economy class seating will be offered on board with competitive fares in both cabins. bmi regional's renowned in-flight service also offers complimentary in-flight food and drink, including a hot breakfast service on early morning flights.

bmi regional managing director, Crawford Rix said:
"Our business and leisure passengers can be assured of convenient flight times, competitive fares in both cabins, generous frequent flyer benefits and of course our renowned in-flight service.

"The benefits of flying with bmi regional do not end there - our passengers will also be travelling with the UK's most punctual regional airline. And what's more, for the business traveller we recognise that speed is of the essence on the ground too. With a range of check-in options including our new online check-in available from January 2006, you can be assured of a smooth journey through the airport."

Andy Flower, Aberdeen Airport Managing Director said:
"Amsterdam is the most popular international destination out of Aberdeen and we are very pleased that our passengers now have more choice through the new bmi regional service.

"We are particularly pleased to be announcing another new service from Aberdeen at the end of a year that has seen us celebrate record growth in passenger numbers and record numbers of new routes and services."

The new service will bring the total number of domestic and international routes operated by bmi regional to 21. Amsterdam will also become the second Dutch airport served by bmi regional from Aberdeen. Services currently operate between Aberdeen and Groningen five days a week.

KLM is hard to beat to AMS, most locos that have decided to compete with them have ended up either cutting back or ditching it altogether. Jurys out on this one, it'll be difficult but do-able. But they'll have to get the fares and timings exactly right, and do some hefty advertising.

Apparently Shell wanted the service for their workers to go back and forth to Holland!
They must like bmi more than KLM

I think cost is the biggest concern for most travellers. A day return from Heathrow to Amsterdam with KLM is out of the question, unless you're willing to pay £200 or more. bmi can do it for little over £50.
