-The TV news is saying they were an hour into the flight, I take it this means they were conducting a survey at the time ? You can drive between Cumbernauld and the crash site in less than an hour ?
The flight was described as a routine flight between Cumbernauld and Aberdeen...

-Very sad news. My condolences to all who knew the crew. I caught a snatch of the news on the readio in the car, the other half actually turned the radio up when it came on. I couldn't believe it, after 25 years of turning down news reports of anything aviation related, she has at long last got the idea that I'm interested and want to hear it.

I believe they were carrying out a pipeline survey, which are carried out on a very regular basis. In the 'old' days the crews used to stop off at Longside for a coffee, chat and some fuel. I used to in awe of these guys - one hell of a job thats for sure.
Sadly found out tonight that the pilot was an ex-colleague of my father's from many moons ago. A superb bloke according to the 'war' stories I've heard tonight.
RIP gentleman.
