Bloody weather! LBA can be a great airport for photography when it's nice and bright! Here are a few of my LBA photos from over the summer:

Some cracking shots on this thread, especially love the close up of the Jet2 757 nose Paul!

The thought of going spotting at LBA does not hold any appeal to me anymore, I spend enough time up there as it is!

I can believe it! I guess the novelty of anything can wear off after a while.

PMN that shot from the graveyard area is pretty cool, never knew the aircraft passed that close.

Thats a 14 arrival, they do indeed pass that close.

The shots where the aircraft are turning are also taken from the graveyard, for a 14 departure.

Thanks. The plane is actually further away than it looks! It's a nice perspective though.

I wonder if good opportunities are available from Multiflight...

I would imagine so, but can you just wander down there and start shooting? The problem with the Cemetary is there arn't any opportunities to get rotation shots. Even when runway 32 is in use and the aircraft head towards you, they're too far away to get decent shots (at least they are with my camera). I have seen a rew rotation shots from LBA, but I have no idea where they were taken from.

lbaspotter, can I ask where you were stood when you took your photos? it loos like it could be a good spot in Summer!

LBAs look like they were taken from the tunnel entrance. You can just wonder into Multiflight and take photos, though I personally think the Graveyard is miles better.

Tom, how clear is the view of the runway from Multiflight? Can you get good rotation shots (or shots in general) from there?

Hmmm... its alright, not fantastic, and you have to poke your camera through a fence. I would stick to the graveyard if I was you personally, though Multiflight do have a cafe, so it was cold you could pop down and have a hot drink or whatever.

I'd say there's a good chance for rotation shots, but might have to zoom in a bit. You can also shoot the aircraft apron but again, it'll take some zooming in. You have to poke you camera through a fence but then again, so too at L13 at MAN.

You got that in one Tom. The tunnel is not that bad anymore now the bushes have been chopped down. Also I stand on the Bench so you can take photos over the top of that Fence.

Like you say! If 14 in use i sometimes go down to cemetry as well.

Nice Photo's guys.

In my 35mm days I found Tunnel was good location (see Heavilift), specially if you took a pair of stepladders or a couple of beer-crates to stand on! The footpath round to 32 Threshold and the old "pan" was also a good vantage point for 32 landings or indeed 14 rotations (see other pics), but other than at times of drought it was a bit of a muddy trek to get there.

Is it still like that? I've got a Canon 350D now and seeing the quality of shots you guys send in I'm itching to point it at some airliners!
