bmibaby also plan to start a daily service from East Midlands to Madrid. That means 24 destinations!

Yeah I can't believe it ever.I am pleased with the fact Jersey is getting a low cost operator in on the Cardiff and East Midlands routes. The fact that bmibaby have grown so much so quickly is amazing and says a lot about the need for low cost airlines.
Also just one bit of other news is this for anyone who is interested in a new UK low cost carrier:

I'd say bmi baby decided to expand since it is now easyJet operating from EMA.
I thought that perhaps bmi baby would operate from Belfast City rathert than ALdergrove as bmi mainly operate from Belfast City!

Yeah, I also thought that bmibaby would have operated from Belfast City.
It also looks like bmibaby won't be flying to Lyon (as mentioned above). This is probably because they need the aircraft for the other destinations. Copenhagen was also going to start in November but this doesn't look like it will operate either. Maybe Lyon, Madrid and Copenhagen are planned routes for next year?
Sorry for the mistakes!

I was talking to the CEO of bmi baby, Tony Dixon, in early June and he told me that bmi baby couldnt do something with me for another 6 months because they have planned a very big expansion!! THis must be the first stages unless the flights arnt going to become active until very late on. I know the new EMA - BFS route, and i would say most of them, dont come active until October 27th 2002.
Anyone know if they are getting new aircraft or ex-bmi british midland ones? They cant go-on with only 2!!

bmibaby have said that they are going to operate 11 Boeing 737-300 Aircraft. 9 for East Midlands and 2 For Cardiff. However, on OAG.com, it shows that bmibaby operates the Fokker 100 on a lot of routes and the 737-500 on a few and the rest are 737-300's. Very weird and confusing!

bmibaby have today announced more new routes. They are to start flying from East Midlands airport to
Amsterdam
Brussels
Belfast
Edinburgh
Glasgow
Paris
Jersey
Salzburg
Toulouse
This will be in addition to the routes already served
Alicante
Dublin
Prague
Munich
Milan
Geneva
Lyon
Nice
Barcelona
Palma
Ibiza
Murcia
Malaga
Faro
This means that bmibaby will have a total of 23 routes from East Midlands! I find this incredible due to the fact that they only started flying on the 20th March this year from East Midlands to Malaga. This is also in addition to the new Cardiff routes and makes bmibaby the 2nd biggest low cost airline in the U.K with 11 aircraft.
I wonder how Go will compete now that bmibaby and go offer exactly the same routes from East Midlands (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Alicante, Faro, Malaga and Prague)
The massive expansion is due to the fact that bmi is pulling out of East Midlands and British Airways have more or less abandoned Cardiff.
