Singapore Changi is pretty good. They have indoors observation areas with comfy chairs, above the main concourse. Nice when you are connecting through.

I always found myself going to the A/p to watch the planes when I was there, I don't know about the new place but good old Kai Tak was superbe, I did go on top of one of the old blocks of flats there but not right under the flight path I was about ten buildings away!
Give me coffee and no-one gets hurt!

I agree with Monster, SYD is fantastic. Right off General Holmes Drive, going eastbound, there's a turnoff, you go by the old Tower and there is a beach. Then you walk right up next to runway 34L/16R. I took a few pictures, I'll scan them when I get back to L.A.

The last time I went there : NARITA. There is a terrace on the roof and access is free.
