A trip I booked quite a while ago was EZY-Suisse to Geneva from Edinburgh, 94 quid return for 2 folk, cant be bad for a direct flight.
As always got to Edinburgh well in time, dumped the car in the car park and got checked in, everything was ultra smooth. Good to see the airport very busy, theres still a bit of building work on the new food hall so rather and wait about it was straight through security,no problem at all as well, queues moving quite fast and efficiently, air-side at Edinburgh is IMO one of the best for layout and also for the opportunities to take photos in the UK, also its the only Scottish airport I use that has clean window glass, the lounges appear pretty clean as well, especially compared with other airports I've used this year, anyway, being morning there was the usual arrivals from around Britain and also from Europe and the US, Wideroe, KLM, Delta, Continental and Finnair all on the ground at the same time, so good to sit at the lounge taking pics and also sup a nice cool pint. Because our flight was outwith the EU I had to take advantage of the generous prices for my favourite tipples of Bacardi and Vodka, 15 quid for the pair altogether!!
On cue our aircraft arrived from Geneva, HB-JZO, my first ever flight on an A319 :)

On arrival at the gate it looked like it was going to be a busy flight, later confirmed when i was on board by over-hearing the crew say it was indeed full, got myself a window seat and settled in, aircraft was clean and tidy although the window seemed to be a bit "iffy", not quite crystal clear, anyway snapped a Scot Airways Dornier as we waited for push-back.

Flight was un-eventful, approx flight time was 2 hours and we were soon on approach to GVA, looked nice and sunny as well as very pretty. Never been to Geneva before, after landing it was a short taxy to the pier we were to be parked on, managed to snap off a couple of photos from the aircraft including this WDL Fokker, also noticed an Edelweiss Airbus parked up, so, after getting off the aircraft I got a quick pic of that as well.

Geneva is a clean and neat airport, customs etc are a doddle, if travelling to the city then probably the best and certainly the cheapest option is to get the train, every train goes through the main station in the city, costs about £1.50 single and takes less than 10 mins, we were staying just over the border in Ambilly and considering this was my first visit we got to our hotel very quickly indeed using public transport, also, if using the Airport train then if you purchase your ticket out a machine remember and get the ticket validated, its the same system as used in Germany..
Geneva was really nice, not as expensive to eat out and drink out as I was lead to believe, the hot sunny weather was a definite plus on our visit, also, public transport is like most European cities cheap, fast and regular.
On our return we used the train, this time our ticket was purchased at the ticket office, as it was only valid for one hour then it didnt need validating at a machine.
Easyjet check-in is really good, you use a self-service machine to print-off your boarding card and baggage labels, then all you have to do is present your bags at check-in, no queues at all !! Be good to see this system at Edinburgh.
there is a spectators area at the airport but i didnt use it, its easy to find, once your are through "Passports" then you have the choice of a lot of shops and eating places, you will then go through Security to your gate, beside our gate , A11, there was a cafe so its all quite civilised, also, if you are a Smoker then Geneva has lots of places for you to indulge this habit!! Also, at the gate I was at there is no posibily of taking any photos, too many obstructions and the glass has a funny pattern on it, other gates might be more photo friendly.
On baord HB-JZN for the return flight, also 100% full, very impressive loads for my 2 flights, we were parked next to an Air France A319.

also, as we taxyed out seen this Austrian Arrows Dash-8

Take-off meant I had a good view of the Airport apron, although I was nearly facing into the sun

Flight back was about 1 hour 45, blanket cloud outside the whole flight, until we got near Edinburgh, approach was to RW24 at Edinburgh where it was pleasantly sunny!!
Last photo of the trip was the Delta 767 sitting on its stand.

Good trip, not brilliant at all for aviation although Geneva had more biz-jets than you could shake a stick at, nice city to visit and I hope I visit it again.

Excellent report Robert, I like the Scot and Delta shot. Indeed the GVA flights are doing very well. Hopefully EZS will continue them daily as opposed to 4x weekly next summer as average monthly loads have been in the mid 90% all summer, 94% last month.
Did you not rate GVA for spotting then?

It was easy enough to see most movements from inside the termianl once airside, the spectators area looks good from the outside, I just didnt have time at all to use it :( Dont think I would go just for a photo trip, prefer AMS or FRA, but the city is really nice and worth a visit.
