Easyjet? What's so easy about it?

I watched this show here tonight called "Airport", They showed that Easyjet was one of the biggest trouble makers towards passangers over the last Christmas rush, it made the security scare at L.A.X. look like a joke.
1. They changed their pollicy the week before christmas so that they couldno longer accept cash at the ticket counters! This is Christmas, if they wanted to do that they should've waited till after the new year! Besides they never told anyone about the sudden change and had no signs displayed about the change in pollicy!

2. There were some problems involving a mother with twins, they booked the mother on the wrong flight, and when the mother got there, was told that her flight was not till the next day, after a few hours, they gave in and put the family on the last plane out!

3. A chap who had traveled from cape town, was enroute to somewhere else, but due to delays in South Africa and further delays upon arriving in England, he missed his flight, there were others, but they said that he couldn't go on any of those and ended up spending the night at the airport!

This is a pure case of very poor management and inflexability on the companies behalf, though credit must be given to the ladies that handled the problems, management must be scalded! What right do they have to do this to people especially during the busiest time of the year! We people don't count, only their profits do, that's whatit's all about isn't it?

I think the programme you are refering to is "Airline" on ITV, "Airport" is screened on BBC1!

In my opinion, if you buy a cheap ticket you should realise that you are taking a risk. If you paid to fly with British Airways on a similar route as easyJet would you honestly expect to have delays or poor customer service???

- I don't think so!

Why should flying be say any different to buying a new car? You buy a brand new *Bad model* for less than £6000, have loads and loads of problems. The snobs next door spend £60000 on a brand new *excellent model*, they encounter next to no problems if any at all.

I think its fair to say "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!"

Hi,

I saw that programme when it was on for the first time a bout a year ago. It's now on weekdays on ITV1 at about 5pm. I think easyJet are nothing but trouble!

I am flying to Barcelona on Thursday with BA (first time with them!) and the cost of flight is £153.00 or thereabouts. easyJet are charging exactly £150.00 return - I think for the extra £3, I know who'd I'd rather go with!

I think to answer your question, "easyJet.. what's so easy about it?" the answer has to be, "NOTHING!"

I don't know what channel it was on up there, but it was Channel 9 down here!

It's not a matter of poor customer service, more like poor customer orientation and inclination!

most of the money you pay to get on a plane goes towards fuel and costs so it doesn't matter what you pay or who you pay to fly with, and at the end of the day if you are late then you don't fly.The despatchers dictate this as the aircraft is weighted nd calculated for takeoff landing and cruise.late arrivals are an unpleasent and unwanted nuisance, and BA will turn you away i can tell you that from now even in CLUB WORLD and then have the cheek to charge you to rtansfer to another flight

In reply to your comments Monster, BA will only charge you if you have purchased a ticket that has those conditions attached. In the past Club World tickets were totally flexible and could be transfered free of charge to any other BA flight (or another airline if the coupon is endorsed over to them). Recently however BA have introduced lower Club World fares that require advance purchase and carry a fee to change them. In general BA Club World pax are given all assistance to make their flight if they are late, after all, they are premium customers and pay alot for their seat. There are very often reasons why a pax is denied boarding, being late at check-in is normally the most common. BA like all airlines overbook flights, if a pax has not checked in by the required time their seat may be given to somebody else. All flights close a certain time before departure, after this time no further pax are accepted and any standby pax may be then accepted. I'm sure BA do appreciate that there are many reasons why pax turn up late at check in and expect their seat to still be there, we all have a bad day every now and then. I can tell you though that there are also many that turn up knowing they are late and use every excuse in the book and blame everyone else. I tend to agree with the comments already made about the airline programme. I know little about EZY but that programme only shows that bad side, pax having tantrums for not getting their way when the problem was probably caused by them in the first place. I'm sure the EZY staff do their best in very difficult circumstances. I think EZY do an excellant job in their market. I've watched a few of the previous series about BY, what are some of those people on? I couldn't believe how many people think they can travel without passports, one guy had even altered his passport by entering his baby son's name himself!! The travelling public appear to leave their brains at home. Back to EZY, I've never flown with them so I can't really comment on their operation but they must be doing something right to be as successful as they are.

I do not see that program very often, but as Easyjet has a base at my local airport I have flown with them often and on the whole the service is good. Certainly comparing them with BA the cabin crew on board tend tobe more friendly and helpful. I would also say when I want something to eat i prefer what I can buy from the trolley, than the free offering (its not really free you pay for it in the price) that BA or the likes give you. Recently flew with KLM MAN-AMS-HAM and the food offered which wasn't very much was disgusting. Lastly you can also get very good fares with them on one-way and return trips.

RE: Easyjet? What's so easy about it?

I've only flown easyjet once and I have to say they aren't that bad. I don't like the rush to get on the aircraft due to them not allocating seats, the snacks are quite expensive, but for a 45 min journey you don't really need any.

To reply to a few of your points.
They shouldn't change their procedures the week before Christmas, that is just stupid. I saw one programme where they changed the last check in to 30 min before departure instead of 20 min at the last minute, most staff didn't even know about it, the ones that did were trying to tell pax that they had MORE time to check in x(.

I can sympathise with them for you story about the guy from South Africa. If he gets there late for whatever reason and there are no more seats on the rest of the days flights then there is nothing thay can do. You can't expect them to throw somebody else off to fit hinm in!

I know BA has a new policy they hit me with it so i will not be flying BA again in a hurry due to that very reason.A club world ticket is costly enough as it is with out stupid transfer charges

Thats fair enough monster, whoever sold you the ticket should have explained the conditions attached to the ticket. I apreciate some of the Club World fares do appear quite high but the ticket you purchased was cheaper then the full Club World fare which allows total flexibility to change as many times as you wish. I believe the Club World product, with the new flat bed etc is the best around but I do understand your frustrastion. I hope you have a better experience if you fly with us again.

I fly for emirates anyway so it's not imperative for me to fly BA but we do not fly to the USA so BA is the next choice for me.I know that Cathay has an extremly good and new business class product which i have tried. Was fantastic to.

I'm told Emirates are excellant, a friend of mine works for them, she left us last year and loves it, DXB based and having a great time. I haven't flown with you guys but I hear a lot of good things from our pax. Your A330's (or A320, can't remember which)look brilliant to work on too, I'm cabin crew not flight deck but they still look good, we were on stand near you a few days ago. They have one serious wingspan! How come you're buying tickets to fly BA, couldn't you use staff travel, I thought EK had joined Oneworld.
