Anyone monitoring?

Seems strange this help request went out in June '06 and noone has jumped in to help this guy. Have I joined the wrong forum? Does anyone monitor this forum? Where are all the members with experience? Other forums I belong to everyone with experience helps the other folks. What's up?

Nothing is up Hippie, you are clearly looking at the wrong info, that date you specified was his join date, the date of posting is on the left hand side

And as for all the experience, yes there are lots, but you must appreciate we all have lives to lead and cannot monitor the forums 24/7

Also there are precious few of us who will have bothered to buy FSX yet.

This is an aviation enthusiasts site, with a flight sim section, rather than a specific 'flight sim addicts' site.

I, for one, won't be shelling out for FSX any time soon.

Ooops!

Sorry! I was wrong, please forgive.

FSX is only $55 here. Is that alot? I only have the demo and bought FS 2004 for $20.

Cheers.

I am trying to put on the FSX Ryanair Boeing 737-800 default Textures from this link
http://www.simviation.com/fsxjets5.htm

I want to put on some of the other aswell. Once i know how to put on one of them it should be the same for the others, right?

Ok Ollie, first, browse to where your 737-800 default plane is located, this is typically C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes

Open up the B737_800 folder and locate the "aircraft" cfg file which should be a notepad file, if it isn't then open it up using notepad by right clicking on it, and then select "open with" then select notepad.
Once you have it open you will see a list of 737s starting with [fltsim.0] the next aircraft is listed as [fltsim.1] and then the next as [fltsim.2], you see the trend? ok, by default you should have 6 737s if you have the deluxe version of FSX, what you need to do is to browse to the last plane i.e. [fltsim.5] (because the 1st one is labelled 0) and then copy and paste the info from the readme file from your Ryanair download which should be this:-

[fltsim.X]
title=Boeing 737-800 Ryanair
sim=Boeing737-800
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=ryr
kb_checklists=Boeing737-800_check
kb_reference=Boeing737-800_ref
atc_id=EI-DCK
atc_airline=Ryanair
atc_flight_number=5613
ui_manufacturer="Boeing"
ui_type="737-800"
ui_variation=Ryanair
ui_typerole="Commercial Airliner"
ui_createdby="Microsoft Corporation"
description="One should hardly be surprised that the world's most

Now at the top of this one you should see [fltsim.X], once this whole list has been copied and pasted into your 737 config file you need to change the X to the next number in sequence, so I have 6 planes, and as the first numbered plane is 0 I need to change this X to 6, get it?
Ok, when you have pasted it over and changed the number to the next in sequence just make sure there is a space between your last aeroplane list and the next line which should be [General], save and close the config, next you should have had a texture folder with the RyanAir download called Texture.ryr, cut and paste this into your default B737_800 folder where you should see more Texture folders typically named Texture.1 etc

This is it mate, fire up Flightsim and enjoy :)

Deano - very nice explanation of a process many "experienced" flightsimmers take for granted.
