anybody know what is happening with this bird, as it constantly sits under the airworthy box so to speak, but hasn't been seen for a number of years.

I would think that as it has lived in a container for 15 years its a little away from being airworthy.

No longer on the brit reg according to WIX

Having a working knowledge on it's sister SM969 i can confirm it will be a long way away from being airworthy.

Very original condition aeroplane, fitted with MkXVI port wing, dismantled and containerised in November 1992. Requires extensive overhaul, stored Greenham Common, owner not interested in selling.

Another of Digby's cast offs! ;)

Was this the one that was displayed, dismantled, as a load on a Taskers Queen Mary trailer for a number of years?

Yes it was. I wonder what happened to the Queen Mary after the Spitfire went to the States?

sorry - couldn't resist...........

I think the QM is still round the back somewhere at Newark Air Museum, which is where IIRC the combination was originally displayed

Zombie revival.

Found this photo of myself and my father with NH238 at Biggin Hill. Mid to late 80s. Definitely not after mid 1990.
