The only reason I can think of is that airbus has other planes in the pipelines to produce and call them the 350 360 370 sorry that is the only reason I can come up with

I have heard the following theory about the name:
number 8 is considered lucky number in the east and Airbus has customers in east and the market in the is also suitable for A3XX.
I don't know about this. Maybe maybe not.

Maybe because it is double the A340.........as long and twice as high (as we all know).

Hi,
I am probably the last airplane enthousiast in the world who doesn't know the answer yet, but can anyone give me a reason why they called the A3XX, A380 and not A350 which would be more loggical?
