RE: Airtours :-)

Thanks for your nice invitation. It´s really kind of you and after taking into account that most pilots don´t enjoy having extra passengers in the copit. I have never flown A330 but a couple with A340. I really like airbus, I feel quite proud its being european. However Iam not really fond of ETOPS. I have always thought that crossing the atlantic I prefer having four engines than two. A failure would means 50% off and 25 in the case of a four engines. I suppose the A330 is as good as the A340 but engines are too small.

RE: Airtours :-)

Hello pilot.I`m a pilot and when i learned to fly i had to have an `A` Level in english. My screenname has nothing to do with BA and neither do I.If you are genuine then i hope that you fly better than you spell.Incidentally i fly B737,B757 for Brittania.Previously flew B747 for Qantas, and VC10 for the RAF.

RE: Airtours :-)

Sorry you feel that way Keltic. ETOPS across the Atlantic is very safe these days.I`ve crossed all the major oceans in twin engine and 4 engine aircraft. In more than 20 years i have never lost an engine in flight unintentionally. When crossing the Atlantic you can nearly see land all the way across if you sit starboard going west and port east(assuming its not night). As for extras in the cockpit, i dont mind kids etc coming up for a look as long as we aren`t too busy.

RE: Airtours :-)

In response to your topic I actually, (as a passenger and a jumpseat user quite often on the A340) do like the design of the cockpit and the flight model. But with so many engineers and pilots these days saying that there are many problems with the aircraft, especially on cold starts and when manuevering because the turns are done automatically all you do is move te stick to the left or right and return it and it will automatically do the bank for you. Back to the topic, :) I honestly do think that from a non-operative point of you its a marvellous A/C but from the view of many pilots I know they say that it's a probem when you don't get the "feel" of the A/C like in the B742.

Regards to you all,
Mosaab AAM.

RE: Airtours :-)

Well I have just being reading through some issues that you guys talk about and find it every interesting that this guy ross is a pilot for Airtours on an A330-200 and also if you go to topic GLASGOW AIRPORT HE IS ALSO A AIRTRAFFIC-CONTROLLER so i think that I smell a rat where comments please everyone about our

RE: Airtours :-)

Well I don´t want to say that ETOPS is unsafe simply as a passenger I wouldn´t feel happy with an engine failure in a
B777 in the middle of the atlancic, and although not happy on a A340 but safer. It´s probably psicological but I still think four engines are better than two.

RE: Airtours :-)

Oh you're an airline pilot are you. Shall I tell you about the time I went to the moon on my bike? Grow up soft lad.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Ross Gunn claims to be an Airtours A330 pilot and a Glasgow Air Traffic Controller. HE IS NEITHER! Any promises made by him must therefore be extremely suspicious and must be treated with utmost caution. He has been banned from using this Forum and further action is also possible.
