Tony looks like the remains of Vickers Viking G-AIVE of BEA on Irish Law. It crashed on a beam aproach to Renfrew from Northolt
thankfully with no casualties. The date was 21st April 1948.

well gee, thats that one then, for my pennys worth i would suggest mitchell, b25 crashed...................on grass.............somewhere.

I can just make out Emelia Earhart's left leg amongst the grass, so it's a Lockheed Electra!!

If it is not a viking then it is either a warwick or a wellington bomber. Look at the treads on the tires!!!

and yes, you can just make out the remains of a tyre in picture 1, bottom leftish.

The clues are:-
Geodetic construction wing... This makes it from the Vickers stable. Then we have the metal skinning as opposed to fabric, this along with the treaded tyre makes it a post war aircraft.
Then there is the fact that it is fitted with a late mark Hercules engine, combine this with the knowledge of "substantial remains" in some of the publications and your choices are somewhat limited.
Box Law is the correct location, along with Vickers Viking.
So there you are....

yes it is a viking and one of the visitors who left his mark on it is an iron maiden fan hence the sign
