Following its mechanical mishap a few weeks ago, has anyone any news of the repair progress or is it back in service yet?

Antonov An-225 makes first commercial cargo flight

DATE:17/12/02
SOURCE:Flight International

The giant Antonov An-225 freighter made its first commercial cargo flight this month, operating on behalf of freight forwarder Chapman Freeborn. The 250t (550,660lb) payload aircraft carried 100,000kg of outsize cargo, including two 15,000kg ship turbines and several pieces of hydraulic machinery too big for any other aircraft, from Frankfurt Hahn to Montreal Mirabel via Shannon. Payload was limited because of the length of Hahn's runway. Since being returned to operation last year, the aircraft has been deployed on humanitarian and military contracts.

...gees, didn't realize the article was from way back...

Only 2 An225 in existence UR82060 and a half finished fuselage in the back of a hanger in Gostomel.

82060 is under repair, he's not as damaged as alot of people have quoted (write off etc) He's expected back on line around the 20th May subject to tests.

Wasn't it built to transport the Buran ( Russian space shuttle ) that being the reason only one and a half were built after the collapse of the Russian shuttle program

Two errors in one post James, not up to your usual standard! Accident details below and no Air Force AN-225.
