What actually is it your having problems with? Is it the actual auto-pilot or the FMC? It's very easy to use the autopilot although the generators need to be turned on to use the auto-throttle.

fmc,mcp

its a bit of a problem with both.
even if in pc pilot at the moment there are tutorials completly devoted to the fmc(a little help won't be bad tho)

I’ve got the PMDG 737-800/900 and at first (if new to complex simulators) it can seem very daunting with the autopilot and FMC.

My advice would be to pay a visit to the PMDG website and visit their support forums. There are some great guys on there that would be more than happy to help you and assist you in anyway. Problem is, that the FMC and autopilot functions are very complex systems indeed. Don’t expect to master them overnight, but just keep practicing, reading up etc. There are some fantastic guides on the internet such as

http://www.simradar.com/File/2394/PMDG_737NG_Advanced_Operations_Manual.html

so just read up, practice and enjoy the experience. It took me a while to master them, but now I’m confident using the FMC I am loving it.

Good Luck

do you know where to find a text manual for the fmc

The manual should have come with the download. I bought mine from Amazon and the manual was on the CD in a PDF format.

Have a look on the PMDG home page, i'm sure you'l be able to download them.

If you log in to Avsim and do a search in the file library for PMDG Tutorial you can download a couple of great ones which covers the FMS.

Alternatively have you got access to a microphone? if so great, if you also have MSN messenger or Skype (which is free) then we can connect and talk on there and I will talk you through setting up the FMS & autopilot step by step, I'll even show you some tricks with the Flight Director which is a great peice of kit, I'll have you flying ILS approaches in manual mode all the way down to the numbers from 10nm out ;)

Let me know

Skype is a free download, and a mic will cost a few pounds at the most.
Are you saying you have a mic ordered?

Also the avsim forums are great, but you need to click on the "file library" which is in the top left corner, once there, ensure you type in what you are searching for (PMDG tutorial) and then choose FS2004 from the dropdown menu. You will then get the various downloads
