How serious is Ryanair about a Malta base?

Fr started ops to MLA last October. It presently flies from LTN, DUB and PSA. From September the airline will start flying to MLA from STO, GRO and BRE. At one time FR was interested in making MLA a base. They wanted to use the old terminal building but that is out of the question as it is now a cargo and flt ops centre. With 27 738's on order does anyone think MLA will ever be a base for FR?

You'll know they're seroius about a Malta base if they name 3 of their aircraft Faith, Hope and Charity.

Like someone else said in a recent thread...Ryanair are like a cancer of the aviation industry, in that it will spread to anyway, so I would not be suprised to see an FR base at MLA.

It is funny you mentioned this topic because I was speaking to the Duty Manager for Air Malta whilst at work earlier today, and he said that so far they [Air Malta] have not been affected by the FR flights to MLA, but he did say that if EZY were to start services (especially from LGW!), then they would be in big trouble!

This manager must be living in, well, cloud nine. Hasn't he been checking AirMalta's loads lately?
