Hi.

I have a fly now and again and would like to record some in-flight video files to keep and view through Windows Media Player.

I have some files in a .FSR format that will only play back while in FS9, I want to save and convert them to a .MOV or .WMV. What programme do I need to do this and can anyone recommend one?

I have seen them on youtube so I know they can be done.

Thanks in advance.

Brian.

Hi Brian

Not sure you can convert from FSR to MOV etc but I have got a great little program that allows the recording of anything on your PC etc, this includes flight sim & any other game.
The only issue is that I need to locate it on my PC as I haven't used it for absolutely eons & I can't remember what it's called (Old age creeping in)

I'll get back to you asap

You would need to play back your .FSR files in Flight Simulator and use some frame-grabbing software that saves the output to an AVI or other movie format.

A common and easy to use frame-grabber utility is called FRAPS (it's shareware with free demo) which is the name of the program I think the previous gentleman was refering to. See www.fraps.com for details. I highly recommend it although any kind of video recording will eat computer resources, FRAPS saves as uncompressed AVI and can gobble gigabytes in hard disk space over a heavy recording session.

Thanks for the responses chaps.

I have a second drive with 200GB's spare which is used for normal video editing so the disk space is not an issue here.

I will look for this software and try it out at a later date.

Thanks again.
