Announced on the Tuesday of the Paris Air Show, the Brazilian manufacturer announced orders from:

·       Envoy, for seven E175s (worth around $404m);

·       Avolon Aircraft Leasing, in a sale and leaseback agreement with Porter Airlines for 10 E195-E2s;

·       Azorra, with 15 E195-E2s on order as a previously undisclosed order worth around $1.3bn; and

·       Binter, who has added six more E195-E2s worth $505m to its fleet.

Avolon’s deal with Embraer is hot on the heels of its deal with Boeing for 40 737 MAXs.

Keen to stress the importance of the E175 in the US, Embraer Chief Commercial Officer, Martyn Holmes, said: “The E175 is the backbone to the US regional market, with 86% market share in the last 10 years,” before adding “there’s been certain headwinds around pilot shortages in the US market, but ultimately this is the start of planning forward.”

Holmes went onto speak about the other deals in turn. On Avolon’s deal: “Avolon will be doing sale and leaseback of 10 E195-E2s. It’s a great endorsement for Porter, a great endorsement of the product, and we’re very proud to have Avolon come into the E2 family.”

On Azorra, Holmes spoke about the longevity of the relationship between the two: “These guys have had a massive impact into the market. They’ve helped us secure with Scoot and Singapore Airlines. We’ve worked with them on SKS [Airways]. We’ve worked with them on Royal Jordanian.”

Holmes said Binter has “come back to order not once, not twice, not three times, but for the fourth time. They’re coming back to grow their fleet, and are an award winning airline.”

Summarising, Holmes said: “It’s been a very busy period for us. The market has really started to pick up. It’s been a solid recovery on the E1 market, and it’s great to have Envoy here to announce that today.

“We’ve got such great growing momentum on the E2, and we’re able to announce incremental orders on the E2 today with great lessor partners coming onto the programme, which is part of the Embraer family. We’re seeing the number of operators grow.

“With the incumbent E1 base, and the new E2 operators, we’re really a very busy team. We’ve got a lot of excellent results out there. I’m delighted to see the success with Porter into the North American market. We’ve got great success here in Europe with the E2 operators. We’ve got penetration into Asia-Pacific, we’ve got new customers coming on in the Middle East.

“It really has been an exceptional time.”
