Mirage 2000D serial 667 was the EC 1/3 ‘Navarre’ aircraft lost on January 9 during a low-level training mission in the Jura Mountains. The mishap crew were Capitaine Baptiste Chirié and Lt Audrey Michelon. At the time of the accident, Capt Chirié had logged 940 flying hours including 24 combat missions. The Navigateur Officier Systèmes d’Armes, Lt Michelon, had 1,250 flying hours in her logbook and was veteran of 97 combat missions.

• A Russian Aerospace Forces Tu-22M3 crashed in the north-west Murmansk region on January 22, killing two crew. Two other airmen were hospitalized. The bomber was reportedly flying a routine training mission before trying to land at Olenya air base during a sudden snowstorm.
