GAvA EXHIBITION

Keynote speaker at this year’s GAvA exhibition was former boss of the Royal Air Force, Air Chief Marshal (ret’d) Sir Glenn Torpy GCB CBE DSO, who is also the guild’s patron.

Rupert Cordeux’s A Work in Progress, portraying a forlorn F-4 Phantom II in a scrapyard, secured the Aviation Painting of the Year Award.

A splash of colour and the human element made Anthony Cowland’s entry, Irony: Foe Now Friend, a standout inclusion. It depicted a Handley Page Halton delivering supplies during 1948’s Berlin Airlift

A palpable sense of occasion defined the opening of this year’s Guild of Aviation Artists’ annual exhibition, on July 9… the day before the Royal Air Force’s 100th anniversary flypast over the capital.
