COVID-19: View from Malaysia

Malaysia has been one of the Asian countries worst hit by COVID-19. Amirul Ruslan offers us an inside look at the impact from Kuala Lumpur.

TRAVEL OF any sort in Malaysia has been hit hard by restrictions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic. What appeared to be a manageable problem has rapidly escalated into a crisis and lockdown. Even domestic journeys are heavily limited under a government movement control order involving threats of jail-time.

On January 25, Malaysia was one of the first countries outside of China to register a COVID-19 case. Expectations of a rapid response to the outbreak have been dashed, with the nation having the highest number of confirmed cases in the region at 1,800 as of March 25.
