MORE HELOS FOR MORAYVIA

Two contrasting ex-UK military helicopters have recently been acquired by the Morayvia museum at the former RAF Kinloss in Morayshire. Saunders Roe Skeeter AOP12 XN351 arrived from a private owner near Norwich during June, followed a few weeks later by

AgustaWestland Merlin HM1 ZH821, the first production example of the type for the Royal Navy, which had been stored at Shawbury since 2016.

ALCYON AIRBORNE

Following more than four years of work by members of the Vintage Aircraft Midi-Pyrénées group, Morane-Saulnier MS733 Alcyon serial 134/F-AYOT recently flew again at Auch airfield, 50 miles west of Toulouse. The 1958-vintage trainer has been finished in a civilian scheme of polished metal and red.

AVIATION HERITAGE AWARDS

The second Aviation Heritage Awards ceremony took place at IWM Duxford on 15 June 2019. Winner of the Individual Aviation Heritage Award was the Yorkshire Air Museum’s Graham Buckle, the Museum Aviation Heritage Trophy went to Morayvia at Kinloss, and the Lifetime Achievement Award to David Stubley, a founder member of the Lincolnshire Aircraft Recovery Group.

US LIGHTNING FLIGHT NEARS

At Stennis, Mississippi, the Anglo- American Lightning Organization began fast taxi trials with its Lightning T5, XS422, in May.

JETSTREAM LEAVES BROOKLANDS

Everett Aero of Sproughton, Ipswich has acquired Jetstream T1 XX499 from Brooklands College. The former RAF trainer had been on display at the Brooklands Museum.
