A  four-ship formation of Northrop Grumman T-38C talons from the 9th Reconnaissance Wing at Beale AFB, California will be performing a flyover throughout Northern California, Friday, May 15, beginning at 12pm., in salute to everyone on the frontlines in the fight against COVID-19, as well as those staying at home to “flatten the curve” of the virus.

“Thank you for your support of our NorCal Strong flyovers in the greater Sacramento area over the weekend”, says Col Andy “Spoo” Clark, Installation Commander, Beale Air Force Base. “This Friday, May 15, we will cover more of Northern California as we continue our salute to first responders, healthcare professionals, and everyone participating in the fight against COVID19.”

The formation will be led by T-38 instructor pilot, 1Lt Kyle Carver with three combat-ready T-38 pilots from the 9th Reconnaissance Wing.

“’Recce Town’ would like to express our sincerest gratitude to those working on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic. We’re honoured to be able to continue a show of thanks for more medical professionals and first responders of Northern California.” said Carver.

The flyover is scheduled to takeoff from Beale Air Force Base at noon, and pass over a number of medical facilities from Redding to Placerville. Starting in Redding, then continuing on to Red Bluff, Chico, Paradise, Nevada City, Placerville and Auburn before returning to base.

The flyover is intended to provide a salute to all the healthcare professionals, frontline responders, and essential personnel working to keep everyone safe and healthy during these unique times. The flyover also provides training to the pilots and demonstrates the readiness of the Air Force.
