Which airlines fly the most aircraft types?

As the COVID-19 pandemic forces airlines to streamline their fleets, Key.Aero examines which carriers’ rosters boast the largest number of types 

While the pandemic has suppressed demand for many operators, it also appears to have had the secondary effect of forcing countless firms to retire aircraft types early.

Across the world, airlines’ fleets are becoming simpler as they look to replace ageing examples with more versatile multi-role next-generation types.  

There are several advantages to running fewer models of aircraft, the most important of course is reduced costs associated with maintenance and crew training. If you’ve got less variation in the fleet, you’ll need a smaller parts pools, fewer variants of simulators etc.
