More Russian Naval Su-30SMs

Russia’s Baltic Fleet received two more Su- 30SM multi-role fighters at Chernyakhovsk, the 72nd Air Base, at the end of May. The first Su-30SM was delivered there last December.

In early June, the Russian Naval Air Arm had 17 Su-30SMs in service: 12 assigned to a squadron in the 43rd Independent Naval Attack Regiment at Saki airfield, Crimea part of the Black Sea Fleet; two assigned to the 279th Independent Shipborne Fighter Regiment at Severomorsk-3 part of the Northern Fleet; and three with the Baltic Fleet at Chernyakhovsk.

Russian Naval Aviation has placed orders for 28 Su-30SMs; deliveries are expected to be complete by 2018.
