In a separate development related to the MQ-9, GA-ASI also recently announced it has test-flown a new electronic intelligence sensor called the Advanced Radar Detection System (ARDS) on an MQ-9 Predator B operating from GA-ASI’s Gray Butte Flight Operations facility near Palmdale, California.
The ARDS is a fully digital, high-precision, radardetection sensor developed in conjunction with Raytheon Deutschland. The recent test saw the ARDS’ processing speed and geolocation precision performance verified against ground radar targets, and the system’s datalink, ground station elements, precision directionfinding and identification of civilian radars demonstrated.
