Long haul, Norwegian style

Cheap, no-frills airfares have transformed regional markets around the world – but does the same model work on long-haul flights? Airliner World’s Nigel Price puts it to the test by sampling Norwegian’s low-cost transatlantic scheduled service from London to Florida.

’ve always been a fan of ‘no frills’ budget airline travel. I like the idea of ‘building’ the ticket price up by adding what I need, rather than paying for everything whether I want it or not. I rarely check bags into the aircraft’s hold, for example, so I’d rather pay when I do, and not when I don’t. I’ve flown with many low-cost carriers over the years, and I’ve generally been happy with the product and service over short-haul routes which are typically two to three hours in duration.
