Hi Guys,

We're working on a project where we might have need of a 707 or DC8 in pax config to bring to Dunsfold (EGTD). Does anyone know of anything still operating?

Maybe I should copy this to historics too!!

Cheers,

Taifun

NASA operates DC-8, N817NA which has a few seats. UPS, (ex DC-8 operator:D) used to operate their own airline so woud have had a supply of seats. Of course you couldn't have the NASA plane during hurricane season! ;)

Saha Air of Iran, as has been said, is about the only chance - it is ironic that the 707 carries passengers on scheduled services after any chance of flying the DC-8 on such is gone, even though there are far more (freighter) DC-8s flying than there are 707s.

* The NASA DC-8 doesn't carry "passengers" - just observers of the programs it operates
* UPS DC-8s didn't carry passengers - when UPS operated pax flights (for a short time) they were done with 727s
* ATI have one or two DC-8-62s/-72s in a combi configuration with several rows of seats at the back. However, they primarily operate military charters
* The FAA/LADE 707s in Argentina nolonger fly passengers

The only other option is to make friends with John Travolta, or charter the exec 707 N88ZL for your own use! ;)

The Romanians still have one, operated by Romavia but may not be available to outside interests.

A couple for sale here, not used lately! :D

For sale: five slightly used Iraqi Boeing jets

The Age October 6, 2010

Iraqi Airways has put up for sale five Boeing passenger jets that have been stranded in Jordan for 19 years, the state-owned carrier said in a newspaper advert published yesterday in the kingdom.

"Iraqi Airways wants to sell three Boeing 727-200s and two Boeing 707s which are currently located at the Queen Alia International Airport" south of Amman, said the advertisement in the government-owned Al-Rai Arabic daily.
It added bidders should submit their offers by October 20.

Six Iraqi Airways planes have been grounded in Jordan since UN sanctions were slapped on Iraq following the invasion of Kuwait in August 1990 by the forces of late dictator Saddam Hussein.

Tuesday's newspaper advertisement gave no indication of the status of the sixth aircraft.

Jordan has said the aircraft were part of Iraqi assets frozen in the kingdom, adding it is owed about four million dollars in fees for harbouring the planes.
Iraq said in May it will be forced to close down the airline over $US1.2 billion ($A1.23 billion) that Kuwait Airways claims it is owed in a dispute dating back to Saddam's invasion of the emirate.

Kuwait says 10 of its planes as well as aircraft parts were plundered after its airport was seized during the invasion.
