BAA is ditching it's brand name and it's remaining airports will be simply known by their own names only http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2012/oct/15/baa-to-change-name-heathrow

Sounds like they are just throwing their toys out of their pram because they have to sell off other airports! Competition is better!

I worked alongside the BAA for some 20 or more years. Simply 'window dressing' like this, will not change anything. In my experience, they were never particularly good at what they did, they were 'top heavy' far too many very well paid 'managers' in the system. Even the less auspicious individuals working for them, had pay and conditions, that those of us working in the airlines at STN, could only dream of. They carried on with the same pay and work practices that they enjoyed in the good 'ol days of state control. In the end, that was to be their undoing. STN will soon be free of the grip of that monopolistic entity, and I wish them well, and who knows, we may even get a dedicated spotting area out of this;)
