-I caught some of this series when it was broadcast a few years ago. It was very enjoyable and educational (if those 2 things can go together).

Time for another site I found and would like to share with you all!
Chasing the sun - the history of commercial aviation seen through the eyes of its innovators is the site of a series that apparently was shown on PBS in the USA.
It has lots of interesting facts about what made the airline industry what it is - aircraft (for example DC-3, B707, Comet, B747 and A380), personalities (for example Louis Blériot, Howard Hughes, Juan Trippe, Herb Kelleher and even Frank Lorenzo!) and the history of the largest American airline companies.
The best part is all the streaming videos, though! Some examples...
"1944 Newsreel about Constellation: “New Plane Breaks Speed Record in First U. S. Flight” "
"Excerpt from episode 4 of “Chasing the Sun” about Pan Am and Juan Trippe’s involvement in the development of the 747."
Now, what I'd like to know is - why aren't things like this shown on European TV, let alone released on DVD? ;)
Have a nice weekend!
