-Cars, flying cars. One developed by a european company, one by the americans...just to give those on airliners.net something to argue about!
Im guessing due to the research being done (example being the aircraft design released by Cranfield University), and the concepts already being used (a la B-2) that flying wings will be the next big thing considered in commercial aircraft.
Between then and now it will be attempting to increase engine/fuel efficiences, reducing noise etc.

my thought exactly.
Hydrogen or Liquid Nitrogen perhaps.

I'll plump for Hot Air! The sort regularly circulating
around a certain airport..just think of it..no burners..no ignition...natural gases!
Enough hot air to carry most craft around the globe..
The only problem being the a/c would have to carry
the guys responsible for the hot air to stay aloft.
The other pax would perish from boredom. :dev2:

most likely Hydrogen since thats the area where most research is concentrating.

-Aircraft with unlimited fuel, or something along those lines.

not possible unless combustion is held on board...and that is far too risky.

-Maybe we'll see the return of the large airship as a bulk cargo lifter, maybe semi-solar powered?
Much greener and quieter than aeroplanes and they don't need a runway.

Quite likely! There was considerable speculation on this so-called 'free flight' a few years back..

what according to you guys would be the next big revolution on commercial aviation.
