Just a few pictures from a pleasant day at Bournemouth (Hurn) - taken from the picnic area at the museum - well worth the £5 entry fee alone

Hmmm - I'm long overdue a return visit to Bournemouth. And the museum is excellent. Is the Buccaneer still in the "EAL" scheme?

Some great shots. My UK residence is only 5 mins away from Hurn, and I would often spend an afternoon out there watching what is going on. It's a shame the DC-3 no longer flies from there. Does anyone know if the the chap who used to run the museum (then called Jet Heritage) is the same Mr Lacey who has registered a lot of rare warbirds over the past year or two?

I take it the 737 is the biggest aircraft using Bournemouth??????

I believe that 757's frequent Bournemouth in the summer months. Bournemouth is/was the home for EAL's 747's but I believe? the runway is too short for them to operate when loaded. Also, Concorde would do pleasure flights from time to time when it was still gracing our skies. I believe Bournemouth very rarely closes due to fog and so often acts as a diversion for some of the bigger airports.

Like the pic of 'OU' after coming back from the Channel Islands - not quite sure what 'WC' the SH36 was doing there - not a scheduled service but they go in there for MX from time to time.

I think 'WC' was a weather diversion as was VP-BSD - Jersey was a bit foggy. VP-BAT 747SP is often there so it can take the heavy stuff. Has also had AN124's carrying Nimrod fuselages. 8000ft runway now so can take most things.

That would have been the LTN-GCI-JER and would only have diverted if JER and GCI where fogbound then!

Isn't the A320 bigger than the 737?? Besides, I think I saw a 757 fly over head once...not sure on that though.

Look further up the thread, it says that 757s frequent BOH. A320s are slightly smaller than a 737-800.

Skycruiser, I live in Ferndown when I am in the UK, although I have been working in China for 2 years now. Lucky you in Hong Kong! I get there as often as I can.
