These new services see the start of Nexus Airways plans to link Liverpool with many new and exciting destinations! Nexus Airways CEO Daniel Reilly today said "Nexus Airways are delighted to announce the start of operations to the Canaries from John Lennon Airport, it's been a long time coming, but we now hope we can offer the people of Liverpool and the North West on a whole more options out of their local airport, for the lowest possible prices".

We look forward to Liverpool's continuing success in the future, especially during the lead-up to the Capital of Culture year."

Hmm, not sure about these guys, will they get off the ground? Lets hope so.

The timings of flights indicate that the a/c will be based in the Canaries, maybe operated by one of the Spanish charters?

Excellent news for Liverpool all the same, really is growing at the mo!

Looking at their terms and conditions on carriage, do i sense some uncertainty?

cancellation of operation
Due to the publicity and bad name that some airlines have given to the travel industry, with airlines ceasing trade only a few days after beginning their services, leaving their passengers stranded. Nexus Airways will operate a pay-as-you-go type scheme, passengers will not be charged by Nexus Airways until we are 110% sure that your flight is operating and that there are no financial problems with the operation. We believe this the fairest possible way, ensuring that when we debit your account, you can be sure that your flights are operating.

This also means that they don't require an ATOL or an AOC, so they'll be operating off another airlines AOC probably. You only require an ATOL if you are taking the money but not issuing the ticket until a later date.

Good luck to them. The Canaries is an underserved market from Liverpool and with the right marketing, this could well work.

Good luck indeed. Reminds me a little of the Planet Air set up in Leeds a couple of years back.

The Canaries, Cyprus and Greek Islands are hugely popular destinations (all year round at that in some cases) yet we really don't see many frequent cheap flights there like we do for the shorter runs.

Lets hope this takes off...literally and that Jet2 can do similar things at Leeds come winter with their 757s.

Indeed Pembo, Planetair operated to Malaga with an AEU 737, Faro with an Air Luxor A321, Palma with a Hola 733, and Tenerife with an LTE A321 in the summer of 2003, and they operated some of Winter 2004 to TFS with an Spanair (I think...) A320.

Apparantly TFS was the only route that made any money due to the intense competition with Jet2 on the other routes (FAO now daily,AGP 3 daily and ALC 2 daily, proving that the demand was there, just that Jet2 had got the market sewn up), and the summer after they planned to operate Tenerife and Arrecife with a SCY operated Finnair 757, and Malta with an Air Malta A320 (I think). Unfortunately they folded between summer 2003 and summer 2004.

At least we now have TFS operated by Jet2, and Malta operated by BritishJet (Loco wise, of course we still have the weekly Air Malta A320 and the Tenerife charters).

I expect ACE and maybe LPA to be announced by Jet2 in the future, and maybe Cyprus? We'll have to wait and see :D.
