ZOOM AIRLINES, the Canadian-based airline founded by the Scots millionaire travel entrepreneurs John and Hugh Boyle, is set to almost triple its fleet as the company expands its low-cost long-haul service across the Atlantic.

The airline, which flies three long-distance widebody Boeing 767s between Britain and Canada, will take delivery of a fourth aircraft later this year and a fifth next summer. Zoom, which has carried 125,000 passengers on turnover of CAN$105m (£48.6m) in only its second season, is aiming for a fleet of eight aircraft over the next two to three years.

The Boyles, who made £53m with the sale of Glasgow-based Direct Holidays in 1998, are likely to consider eventually floating the airline once it is fully developed.

Floating the airline? What does that mean?

They are a great airline was just on them 24hrs ago we was in Premium class which is much better then Economy class i don't think my mum could last in the Economy class you have no leg room what so ever so if you have long legs like me you would be better in Premium.

My sister has flown them four times and each time her departure time was radically altered. In fact, two months ago when flying between the UK and Vancouver, my brother-in-law was diverted to Abbotsford. A smallish city about an hour outside of Vancouver.

Having said that, I do believe low-cost long haul is a great business idea.

Perhaps that explains where the last KLM 767s are going to. Zoom already took 2 or 3 of them, PH-BZA already delivered.
