I am interested to know what peoples thoughts are on the most annoying airline/airport problem that you experience most commonly, and what suggestions you could think of to help solve the problem? Please feel free to contribute, any suggestions welcome.

Losing baggage. Not much that can really be done about it to be honest. However it would help their case immeasureably if they didnt then steal from the bag as happened recently to me with bmi

Long haul flights with seats that make your backside go stiff. I recently exprienced this with Alitalia on a 763 and sure wasn't good.

Well most of the time I travel without baggage but I work in the baggage department and the most common problem is delays in the delivery of baggage due to lack of staff. Ive been shouted at countless times because of other people inability to show up for work.

I can handle the troubles caused at airports eg queues at immigration, baggage etc because i realise how many thousands of pax the staff there have to deal with each day. what i don’t enjoy about travelling however, is when i actually want to get some sleep on a long haul but cant get comfy enough in the seats to have a decent sleep. worsened when im in the isle seat and people to the left/right of me need to get out to go to the toilet, or when there are crying babies near me :(

ummmmm.... i dont know really i'd say losing all your important documents you need to travel e.g passport , Visa stuff. Like if you came off a long flight all you wana do is get to your accomadation and sleep but your stopped becasue you dont have the right info to stay in that country

Personally, I find the most annoying thing by far (surprised it hasn't already been mentioned!) is when you are unable to have a window seat for whatever reason and then you see someone sat at a window seat and they decide to read for the entire duration of the flight... or even worse they pull the blind down so nobody can see anything!!! That makes me MAD!!!!!!!! I get peeved when people walk through the terminal dors and stop dead, looking at their tickets/feet/navels whatever it is they do. Same seems to occur at the bottom of escalators, outside lifts or anywhere in fact where the is a consrtiction or obstruction to easy movement.

I get annoyed at people who persist in arriving at the gate late and bound up to the agent thinking they can just get on first. The annoying thing is they then hang about right at the gate door and get on first- even though those who were there on time have been waiting patiently. Why do they think everyone else at the gate is sitting there....for a laugh?

Nearly forgot the one of everyone jumping up even before the aircraft has come to a stop let alone the seatbelt signs being turned off. You get people pushing and shoving to get off first but, hello, we are all going to have to wait at immigration/baggage claim. I even had a woman want to push past me recently and telling me how I was holding everyone else up. We left the terminal together. Oh how we laughed, NOT! I did but she was less than amused when I pointed out the error of her ways.

Well before I moved to baggae tracing I worked check in and part of that was being gate agent. I had a minor row with a passenger one day who was travelling with Germanwings to Cologne. She insisted that even though she checked in number 90 she had to board first. Needless to say that woman who still stood at the gate door until boarind time didnt get on first!!!!! im sure its the same on FR and U2 flights. If you want to get on first then get to the airport on time.

That is just annoying to the bone. Good thing I don't travel with lo-cost airlines or charter.

I recently travelled with Ryanair back to Gothenburg from Stansted and was first at the check-in, receiving boarding pass sequence number 1. There was so much pushing and shoving at the gate I guess I was about number 100 to actually board! That is one of my pet hates with Ryanair (plus the inflexible baggage allowance as practised at Stansted and yet at none of the other Ryanair terminals that I use). Unfortunately I am forced to use Ryanar to get to and from the UK from where I live.

What on earth does that have to do with anything?! Paul

Indeed, flying with scheduled airlines doesn't gurantee you a window seat or mean that the passenger in the window seat is more likely to put the blind down.

That would **** me off big time... However, with Ryanair's new online check-in service, those that use it get priority boarding...I know it doesn't solve the issue, but at least it might mean that you can at least not have to stuggle to board. Is it me, or do others hate the smell of an aircraft when you first step onboard...?

Future - You will no doubt see what he is talking about tomorrow when walking down the aerobridge to get on the 757. It is a notorious aircraft for toilet smells. The tanks are just below the toile units and there is not valve as such to stop the smells coming back in. Not helped by tanks not getting emptied when they should. Most aircraft do have a particular smell but the excitement of the experience can mean you miss it and by the time you have the capacity to notice, yo are used to it and don't notice it anymore. Altitude does dull your senses of smell and taste so that may be a factor too.
