Just returned from a great holiday in Egypt and thought I would post a trip report: 19/5/05 Flight 1: LHR-CAIRO Egyptair B777 SU-GBY Dep 1520 Arr 2135 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v296/matt747/PICT0473.jpg Good flight; only 2/3 full. The service/food was much better than expected(had only read negative reports). Managed to get exit row seats with loads of legroom. Almost all the cabin crew were male which seemed strange imo. IFE was old screens and a/c looked worn considering it's only 4 yrs old. Flight scheduled to last 4h45m but only took 4h15m so actually arrived early. Tour rep told us that this flight is nearly always late. Cairo airport seems very antiquated; no airbridges at all which is poor for the busiest airport in Egypt. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v296/matt747/PICT0475.jpg 22/5 Flight 2: CAIRO-LUXOR Egyptair A320 SU-GBD Dep 0630 Arr 0715 Very early start; nice smooth flight but again a/c looked worn for it's age. Service fine though. 25/5 Flight 3: ASWAN-ABU SIMBEL Air Memphis DC9-31 SU-PBO Dep 0900 Arr 0930 Here came the suprise trip; booked locally and expected an Egyptair a/c but got the above a/c. It was still in US airways colours and now fitted out as 110Y config. Never flown on an old DC9 and flight proved interesting especially the alomst fighter style approach at Abu Simbel. 25/5 Flight 4: ABU SIMBEL-ASWAN Air Memphis DC9-31 SU-PBO Dep 1220 Arr 1250 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v296/matt747/PICT0547.jpg Uneventful flight; spotted a few Egyptian AF Mig 21? fighters back at Aswan. 30/5 Flight 5: LUXOR-LHR Egyptair A300-600 SU-GAU Dep 1100 Arr 1415 Equipment change here; should have been a B777. Flight was very full; a/c looked tatty. These a/c are due to be converted to freighters soon. Take-off was interesting; one steward was still walking down the aisle during the t/o roll!! Service/food ok; arrived back at Terminal 3 at LHR; seemed to walk miles to baggage reclaim; this terminal seems so poorly laid out. Overall a great trip; Egyptair much better than expected and no worse than many KLM/BA flights I've experienced. :) :)

Great report! :) There have been lots of Egypt Air A320s in at Heathrow recently, so you're really quite lucky to have ended up on a 777 out and an A300 in.

T5, Yes I checked their acars listings just before leaving the UK; the Tues/Wed Cairo flights have been using A320/321s but the Luxor flight has been using B777s every week until yesterday. I think Egyptair also operate an A320 from Sharm-al-sheikh on Sundays. I would have been fairly annoyed if I'd missed a B777 trip both ways.

You flew SU-PBO too! It was very cramped and noisy when I flew on it. It appears ASW-ABS-ASW is the only route it flies. By the way, good report.
