Edwin A Link Named Lecture 2012
A Journey Through Flight Simulation

Dick Eastment 'flew' his first flight simulator in 1968 at RAF Syerston. Fittingly this was one of the last Link Trainers in RAF service. In his subsequent career he has spent some 44 years using, instructing on, buying and advising on flight simulation in all its guises.

In this lecture Wg Cdr Eastment will take a personal journey through the past 50 years of flight simulation, concentrating on its contribution to flight safety and operational effectiveness. Dick will draw out a number of key lessons that we need to take into the future of simulation, including embedded simulations on real aircraft.

As well as reflecting on the various simulators he has used, and how they have increased in effectiveness, Dick will consider why we buy these devices and whether we have now reached a plateau in the training they can deliver.

All RAeS Lectures are free to attend and we welcome both Members and Non Members. To RSVP, please click the Register button under Key Details and log in to your profile or create a user account.
