I suppose it had to happen but will probably be anathema to purists like Biggles 1049! Look at the diagram showing the deployment of the engine and offset to avoid the tailplane. http://www.desertaerospace.com/bonusjet.html

Thanks, very interesting. I see the aircraft doesn't have a F-W prototype registration or would that have been a later requirement?

It looks like it was "F-WFOI" back in the day, the registration now is in the 'F-CR' series of gliders which for whatever reason don't qualify for a C of A. I guess that it is no longer anything to do with Fouga, so it would not need a test-flying reggie.
