Hello all, Long time since I have posted here but do any of you know of any airfields close to the north of Stirling town or Bridge of Allan type area? The reason I ask is that I am currently spending a lot of time on campus at the University of Stirling and I am forever seeing light aircraft and many microlights fly above the campus at around 1,000-1,500 AGL. I am aware that Perth/Scone, Cumbernauld and Glenrothes are all kind of near by and the spectacular scenery around here including the Wallace monument and Dumyat Hill would make it an excellent place to come for a pleasure flight however is it not a long way for a microlight to come as there are lots of them round here? Stirling University is just a little east of Bridge of Allan and around 3 miles north of Stirling itself. Thanks in advance EGPH

Possibly coming from Balado(T in the Park), next to Kinross?

You still have the runway active at Strathallan as well. Parachute aircraft still operate from there.

Perth is packed with weight shift microlights.

Thanks for all your answers. I guess Perth is not as far from the area as I originally thought. It just intrigued me that it had a very high level of GA activity and did not seem to be in the immediate vicinity of any airfield known to me.

Possibly from Thornhill, near Doune to the Northwest of Stirling. There's an Ikarus C42 operates from a strip near the Safari Park but he doesn't allow it to be used by anyone else for fear of aggravating the neighbours.
