As you will have seen from the latest issue of Today's Pilot, Finmere airfield is under threat and your help is needed to secure its future.

For the last 50 years the former wartime aerodrome at Finmere near Buckingham has been operated by Bill Knapton until his death, and more recently by Prue Knapton until her death.

According to Peter Kember, from Kember Loudon Williams Chartered Town Planning & Environmental Consultants "the executors are keen for the aerodrome to continue to operate but sadly there is a major development proposed under the approach path, which could result in the aerodrome closing for safety reasons."

Mr Kember has now been instructed by the executors to apply for a Certificate of Lawfulness of use and Development as an aerodrome. But in order to do this he needs facts to support the application.

If you flew to and from, or used aircraft based at Finmere in the period 1993 to date you are requested to send a signed and dated copy of the relevant pages from your log book to support the campaign.

Details should be sent to: Peter Kember, Kember Loudon Williams, Ridgers Barn, Bunny Lane, Eridge, Nr Tunbridge Wells, Kent, TN3 9HA, fax 01892 750019 or e-mail peter.kember@klw.co.uk Mr Kember can be contacted by telephone on 01892 750018 if you have any queries.

"Once we have the necessary documents we can safeguard the future of the aerodrome and mount an objection to the neighbouring development" says Mr Kember.
