Arson - serious news from OS

I'm told by a friend who keeps his a/c at Old Sarum and supported by a report in the Salisbury Journal that there was recently an arson attack at Old Sarum that resulted in the complete destruction of a Dynamic aircraft which was parked on an outside tiedown adjacent to the airfield fuel storage.

Before we left my a/c was parked a mere ten feet or so from the Dynamic. There were other arson attacks aimed at motor vehicles parked in the local area.

I knew the joint owners of the Dynamic one, an ATP and the other a PP. The a/c had just returned from a rebuild following an accident when recruiting a proposed third member of the group.

My Yak was based there. Lovely field.

The arson thing is fairly old news now, but 100% correct.

See they have possibly got the scum bag, before he hopefully goes to prison for a long time, they should invite all those effected along to some waste ground, along with this scum bag wih his police escort, and every possession he owns should be stacked up in a big pile, soaked in petrol and torched.

Any monies he has should be split between those who's lives he has effected, especially as if the aircraft has been rebuilt as said, the owners will be out of pocket over it, even if the insurers are involved, raised premiums etc.

Tony, how can you be so heartless ? Surely the almost mandatory Community Service Order only, would serve the ends of justice ? This poor wretch is probably from a broken home and has experienced untold social deprivation. Cue chorus of support from the LLE's.

The arsonist/s seem to be well suited to the business of fire raising, perhaps their talents could be utilised in the service of fire prevention. Let us hope that no accident comes their way !

Seriously beautiful flying day to-day. Still, stable air with visibility of about 25-30 miles. Flew to Sarum to see old friends and have a look at the remains of the Dynamic.

Nothing, apart from a sad black stain on the scorched grass. Sarum was quiet, hardly a patch on the old days. It looks like the white 'golf ball' ( really some kind of radar or comms object) on top of the ridge to the South of OS which was such a good marker has been removed.

The OS cafeteria continues up to scratch delivering a tasty bacon roll and tea. I couldn't get any confirmation that the scrote responsible for the arson had been apprehended.

Kinda harsh tony,, I was thinking a good taring and feathering followed by a group medieval beating would have sufficed.

My Yak 52 was Sarum based. It was always a great field from which to operate.

Recently a friend has been appointed to a comms/marketing role there, I am expecting to see the airfield feature a lot more in the coming year.I'll certainly visit myself.
