THE owner of V8 Supercars' powerful Holden Racing Team, Tom Walkinshaw, has died after a long battle with cancer. The former racing driver, Formula One team owner and boss of Walkinshaw Racing was 64. After several years of success in Europe, Walkinshaw set up the powerful Holden factory team (HRT) in 1988 and also established the Benetton F1 team which Michael Schumacher drove for when winning his first world title in 1994.

Thanks for the heads up Steve, i'm stunned by that news. Remember seeing him when he was head of Volvo's BTCC team around 1995. A man of great authority and respect. RIP.

Don't forget what he did for Premiership rugby with the Cherry and Whites (Gloucester), I know that as a F1 and rugby fan his loss has been felt across both sports.
