Terrible news I will miss his posts for the next two months. At least its only a small jail sentence nothing that long compared those spotters in greece faced.
Anyway, hopefully the AW can keep moving for the next months without him, anyone want to take on his 'Pic of the day'? I am sure he would still want it to be posted.

-Kind of Deja Vu for me
Real sad to hear, but I think he will come out of jail before the said time - once he behaves like a good boy. Heres to you Kabir !!!
Kind of reminds me of the time I got arrested walking down the runway of a flying club in Bombay. I was waiting for a friend to finish his flying classes and in the interim started walking around the airfield, which led yours truly down the runway, where I saw a Dauphin helo. take off over my head. My waving like mad at the pilot didnt stop three jeep loads of men armed with sub-machine guns come screeching around me. :7 .
Man the time I had explaining to the security chief that I meant no harm. Luckily the chap made me go, as I was a kid at that time, but as a punishment made me jog a few kilometers in the afternoon sun.
Great Experience !! Although if i did it in these times, I'd resemble Swiss Cheese.

That sucks big time! Unlucky? Perhaps. With all the added security due to the recent events it may not have to been the best place to be, but still... :(

Sorry to hear this about Kabir, will miss his posts. The 2 months should fly by, hopefully he isn't in the Thiar Jail in Delhi. I hear thats where some nasty criminals are kept.
They are serious about this, I had secuirty in an Indian airport grab my camera while taking a family photograph. I was escorted to the chief security officer's office and had to delete all of the pictures (digital camera). I am lucky they didn't decide to keep it. I still have tons of other Indian and European airport photos they didn't get :)
Another time I walked past the reception area at the New Delhi airport to help my Dad who was arriving push his bag trolley. The police gaurd on duty stopped me and escorted me to the airport police station. A few choice words in Hindi from my Dad made the cop change his mind.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-04-02 AT 03:43 PM (GMT)]I am surprised that they arrested and had a trial against Kabir! A Friend of mine was caught taking pictures at Lohegaon (Now it does not get more serious than that! what with MiG-29s, Su-30s, Jag IMs and other flying from there). He was let off after an interogation that lasted atleast 5 hours. Ofcourse the IAF was dealing with him then. This could be the AAI (Airports Authority of India). After that incident all of us learnt our lessons (Me being the initator of that particular photo expediition).
When in india, the rule is clear - Keep a wide berth at the airports. NO FLASHING YOUR CAMERAS!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-04-02 AT 09:25 AM (GMT)]I have breaking news that Kabir has been jailed for 2 months. His sister has just emailed me to as the court case was this morning in India. Kabir told the court that he was only watching and taking photographs of Commerical Airliners but the Judge said that even if this was so, the Indian Government had to show people that they do not tolerate anyone even posing to take pictures of Military Aircraft and that Kabir was "unlucky".
Regards,
Andrew M
