Hitchcock. Very good and a much better film than the hatchet job on TV a few weeks ago.

UP

On blu-ray. Still a fantastic film - one of Pixar's finest.

"Just seen the trailer of Jason Statham in BLITZ, anyone seen it yet, is it worth renting out or buying?.
Jim."
Lincoln .7

If you like Satham movies it delivers .Saw it a while back not bad but not that memorable.
Statham does what Statham does best.

Beverley Hills Cop

Eddie Murphy's first, and best, outing as Axel Foley, uncovering a drug-smuggling operation in Beverley Hills. Great fun.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Still can't quite work out how this is a much-loved classic. Hey ho!

Hi there, many thanks for your reply. I will pop out and rent it. I didn't know it had been out some time, so I should be able to rent.
Do you think Statham could be the next James Bond...007?.
Jim.

Min Dit: The Children of Diyarbakir (2009)

Two young Kurdish siblings left to fend for themselves and their infant sister when their parents are assasinated before their eyes by Turkish paramilitaries because of participation in political agitation.

Their mother's younger sister is caring for them but soon disappears without trace (in the hands of the same state police). The last of the furniture has been sold, the water and electricity has been cut off, the food's run out and the youngest dies because they cannot afford medicine or treatment. On returning from a makeshift burial of the baby beside their late parents, they find the landlord putting the last of their pathetic belongings on the street...

The film is so bleak and heart rending that I really thought I was going to have to switch off at this point, but the unrelenting misery is partially lifted as the two settle down to life on the streets after encountering and being cared for by another family with a similar tale to tell.

After a couple of chance encounters with the chief assassin, they get a sort of revenge on him before being whisked off with other unfortunate youngsters to a new and uncertain life on the streets of Istanbul.

A very different sort of film but brilliantly filmed and acted, especially by the two young lead roles. World cinema has a great deal to offer and I should make the effort to seek out more of it.

They should have NEVER replaced Peter Lupus with O.J. Simpson.
Simpson was lousy.

Other than that, great movie.

An absolute classic. And I have the TV series of Police Squad on DVD. Each one pure joy, time after time....:highly_amused: The Zucker brothers with Jim Abrahams made some of the funniest Hollywood films being responsible for the Airplane series and Ruthless People as well and Abrahams made Hot Shots and sequels.

Iron man 3

M'eh....

I can think of worse ways to spend a Saturday afternoon with my son, it's OK, superficial drivel that looks good on the big screen.....

I bagged tickets for Star Trek, Into Darkness on Thursday though, that should be good!

Hansel and Gretal Witch Hunters
Enjoyable romp with the grown up siblings hunting and killing witches. Worth it just to see Gemma Arterton in Kick-Ass leather yum yum. 7/10

Parker
Jason Statham seeking revenge on his backstabbing criminal partners " it's not the money it's the principal"
7/10

Both pass a couple of hours of mindless entertainment.

Harry Brown - Michael Caine excellent in the bloodfest and Stoker, a terrific film, in the literal sense. Brilliant cinematography and editing and strong performances from Nicole Kidman and Matthew Goode.

Life of Pi

Second viewing, in 2D this time, and still as good as the first time. Plus my mate really liked it, so it was worth seeing again.
