Do they ever catch the people who start them?

If your computer was destroyed by one, what would that to your life?

Snopes, which is referenced in the posting has this as a real threat but 'Outdated'

Who would open anything like that anyway?

I cannot for the life of me see just what these idiots gain from disrupting anyones line of communications.
I too would like to know if they ever catch them, and if so, what the penalty would be if presented to a Court.
