Hi, I Have recently read Dave Allports article on the newly adopted Tutor colour scheme for the RAF fleet.A similar scheme to that used on the RAF/AAC Slingsby Firefly fleet in the early to mid 2000,s.I think i can clarify the call sign query.Call signs are normally allocated to pilots and not aircraft. This system was in use in the early 70,s and was still in use in 2013 when i retired after 43 years in Army Aviation. The first of the 3 digits of the call sign usually related to the Regiment /Sqdn that the pilot was serving with. The numerical part of the call sign only changing when the pilot moved to a different Regiment/Sqdn.Hence  the call sign AAC765 belongs to a Tutor pilot of 7 Regiment based at Middle Wallop.I hope this has solved the mystery.Tactical call signs are a total enigma though units do have their favourites.
