Just started trying to sort and name my thousands of digital aircraft photos, after a hard drive failure caused the loss of files, and a kindly soul retrieved them!

Some of this is starting to sound like the Face Book of Historic Aviation - in a good way!:)

No, I bought it as an anonymous Bristol Mercury (half) piston...

we acquired the remains from the engine....I think it was from the Mk5 lost on the approach to Thorney....I still have the master rod and piston somewhere

I’ll have to try that next time.....I used the ‘bash-out with an old screwdriver while swearing like a trooper’ method myself! :D

At the time I was unaware that it had been in seawater which both does and doesn’t explain the state of corrosion / preservation.
