Didnt the Spitfire built for the Portuguese Air Force museum end up with some MK.XII parts in it?
Yes. The tail unit of EN224 was shipped out to South Africa initially for the airworthy rebuild of Mk IX MA793, however the tail plane spars had been sectioned at Cranfield or Salford and another route was taken. Atlas in South Africa were commissioned to build a Mk IX for the Portuguese Beaufighter swap and used the tail unit of EN224 in there static restoration of ML255.

Airfix has reissued their 1/48 Spitfire Mk.XII kit so I'm curious: has anyone any updates to share of EN224/G-FXII's restoration?
