Was FE788 part of the Harvard Formation Team?
BTW where are the team aircraft these days, do they survive including the Beech 18?

The Staggerwing is a lovely looking machine until you reach the fin and rudder which look as though they belong to a larger aircraft.

As far as I know that is the only Rearwin Sportster in the UK. It has to be said that Melvyn Hiscock did a grand job on her.

That is a Sportster, based at Biggin Hill. Melvyn has a Cloudster, based at Popham. Two different aeroplanes.

I'm sure G-ANPK will be along shortly but I think I heard him say there were 58 visitors on Saturday and 35 on Sunday. Considering all the other events that were going on I would say that was a good result when you add in the indifferent weather.

Thank you for correcting me. Was that colour the main one used by the manufacturer? All the pictures of them I've seen show them in that colour, nice shade of red though.

OZplane
I never got a chance to say hello personally on Saturday, so many thanks for bringing the Falcon. Thanks also to all those who visited by air or road, I hope you enjoyed the event.

Over the weekend we had 110 visitors, which was pleasing given the poor weather both mornings. Together with the activities of the local residents this resulted in about 380 movements. I was pleased by variety of vintage and classic types, as shown from Yakriders pictures, and we want to build on this again next year.

I look forward to seeing over the summer when I am back arm-waving in orange.

We had a busy weekend as there was a military show at Barleylands near Billericay an several of our aircraft displayed there.

It is, apparently, known as 'Stearman Vermillion'. Many of the surviving Rearwins that I've come across (Speedster, Sportster, Cloudster) are this colour, but there's a black Sportster around in the US and a yellow Speedster in the Oshkosh Museum. They're not a common type by any means though.

All the pictures and updates much appreciated!;) 'A' JP was spotted heading SSE over the North Kent coast yesterday afternoon but hazy sun precluded any naked eye recognition.

I thought the Boxcar was flown out and had trouble leaving ground effect !!!!

I'm fairly sure it didn't fly out, and with the ground effect it is now suffering from, fairly sure it wont fly out of here either!
