-it's been a poor summer for the old BBC - this mis-statement is an echo of the error in the recent john sargeant LANCASTER programme when his scrptwriters had him claim that the operation to PEENEMUNDE consisted mainly of LANCASTERS ..........................................................................

-But there weren't any other bombers. The Lancaster did everything! It could fly supersonic too.

According to the article on the main news 55,000 Lancaster aircrew were killed in WW2. The overall total may be correct but would include all the other types in Bomber Command. Whoops as usual dear BBC!
